Visit Umm Al-Jimāl

Umm Al-Jimāl is located a mere 90km northeast of Jordan's capital, Amman, a journey of about 1.5 hours by car. With its uniquely preserved architecture, vibrant modern community, and ample tourism facilities, Umm Al-Jimāl makes an excellent and memorable day trip.    

Opening Hours

Summer: 8am to 7pm

Winter: 8am to 4pm

Admission

FREE with a Jordan Pass, or:

Foreigners: 2 JD

Jordanians: FREE

Cars and Coaches

Use your preferred map application to drive straight to the site entrance and parking lot at the south of the site, or follow the public signage. 

Tours, Food, and Experiences

Contact the local Umm Al-Jimāl Heritage Cooperative to arrange a guided tour, meals, and other experiences: www.ummaljimal.com

The Umm Al-Jimāl Interpretive and Hospitality Center

Since 2019, the UJIHC has provided essential facilities for tourists and local visitors. Amenities include:

  • A museum, media room, and inscription garden

  • A shaded rest area

  • A gift shop

  • Interpretive materials, such as a site guide and brochures

  • Activities for children

  • Restrooms

 

A café is in process and will be completed soon. Drinks and snacks are available from shops in the modern village, adjacent to the West Entry Park. For those who want to try the local cuisine, meal service can be arranged, as outlined below.

A local cooperative is on hand to help arrange food service, provide overnight accommodation, cultural experiences, adventures in the Eastern desert and more. Please visit their website for contact information and details.
